Kathmandu - Lhasa overland tour via Everest Base Camp(EBC)
This classic Everest Base Camp Tibet trip is a journey of lifetime to explore and experience the Tibetan awesome culture, brown rolling hills, wrecked forts, artistic ornate monasteries, centuries old caravan trails and breathtaking scenery. This tour offers many exciting memorable encounter along the way that you can't express or explain unless you are a part of it. It takes you over several 5000+ meter high mountain passes amidst most amazing mountain views including majestic Mt. Everest and many other numerous peaks. On the way drive to Lhasa you will witness picturesque landscaped Tibetan settlements where nomadic herdsmen can be seen wandering across the wide arid Tibetan Plateau.
The drive from Kathmandu to Lhasa takes seven days over the 'Friendship Highway'; along the way stopping at quietly enchanting Buddhist monasteries and remote villages untouched by modern civilization. A generous two nights will be spent at Everest Base Camp, time to take in some unforgettable views of the highest mountain on the planet. The road also passes through quiet Nyalam, the historical Shigatse and Gyantse, famed for the Gyantse Kumbum. And that's all before the road even comes into Lhasa itself; the spiritual heart of this country. Journey ends in Lasha. with two full days city explore imposing Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, colorful Barkhor Markets, Drepung Monastery etc. From Lasha you will have sensational trans Himalayan flight back to Kathmandu that passes over Mt. Everest and many highest peaks of the world.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu set up in the hotel. In the evening, a welcome dinner in a typical Nepali Restaurant. |
Day 02 :
|
The day begings with the sightseeing of the highlights historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu including Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath stupa, , Swoyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square. Then we return back to the hotel passing by Indrachowk and Assan Streets, the traditional business hub of Kathmandu. |
Day 03 :

Kathmandu to Nyalam (3750m)-123Kms. Early morning drive (Approx. 5 hours) from Kathmandu to Kodari (1873m). After completing immigration and custom formalities drive up hill to Zhangmu (2300m). This is Tibetan border town. The Tibetan Guide will meet the Group on arrival at the check post and we drive further road climbs and climbs to Nyalam for overnight. On the way you will see fantastic view of deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls. |
Day 04 :

Nyalam to Tingri (4390m) -147 Kms. Drive (Approx. 5-6 hours) to Tingri crossing two spectacular passes. Nyalam pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). This drive provides fabulous view of the high mountains including, Mount Everest (8848m) Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) and more. Overnight in Tingri. |
Day 05 :

Tingri (4390m) to Ronbuk (5100m) – 105 Kms. After breakfast easy and short drive to Rongbuk. Rongbuk monastery first, it is the highest monastery in Tibet. enjoy the unique view of Mt. Everest (Mount Quomolangma),you can have a face to face experience of Mt. Everest. Overnight in Rongbuk. |
Day 06 :

Everest Base Camp Excursion (5100m.) Approx. 2 hr. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to the base of the highest peak on earth - The North Face of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the Base Camp and The Rongphu glacier. Retreat to lodge. The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensate for this. It is a truly awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you. No tour vehicles, apart from expeditions and trekking, are allowed beyond Rongbuk so you can walk or take a horse cart |
Day 07 :

Rongbuk to Shigatse (3900m) - 304 Kms. Approx. 8 to 10 hours drive over rocky terrain on 4-WD Land cruiser/s to the city of Shigatse for overnight. The place of famous Tashilunpo Monastery and seat of Panchen Lama until his death in 1989 with its huge Thangka wall, which is clearly visible from the north side of the road. |
Day 08 :

Shigatse to Gyantse (3950m)-90kms. In the morning visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free bazaar of Xigaste. After lunch embark on a pleasant 2 hours drive to Gyantse. Here you visit the Khumbum Stupa and Phalkot Monastery. O/nt. In Gyantse. |
Day 9 :

Gyantse to Lhasa (3650m)-259kms. The drive to Lhasa takes 08 hours, crossing 2 passes The Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) pass and lake Yamdrok Tso(Turquoise Lake). You will cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahamaputra) river and see the distant views of the Potala Palace. Overnight in Lhasa. |
Day 10-11 :

Lhasa Sightseeing Tour Visit the Potala Palace, Norbulinka Palace, Drepung & Sera Monastery, Lokhang Temple & Markhor Bazaar. Overnight in Lhasa. |
Day 12 : | Lhasa – Kathmandu. Early morning drive to Gongaar Airport for departure flight to Kathamdu |
Day 13 : | The day is free to spend on your own. |
